International Teochew Youth Convention 2014
For years, the young Teochew generations from different parts of the world wished to establish an international youth organisation through which all Teochew youths could be united. After the first and second International Teochew Youth Convention, held in Hong Kong (1999) and Paris (2001) respectively, attendees of the two conventions held a strong view that there was a need to set up an organisation to reinforce cohesion of Teochew youths around the world, to bring together the new Teochew generation and to strengthen ties among them. After a year or more for preparation and extensive consultations, eventually the International Teochew Youth Federation (ITYF) was formally founded in May 2004 at the 3rd International Teochew Youth Convention in Montreal, Canada.
